3rd Olympic Games for Pamela

Pamela one of the practice partners has been selected to work in the Athletes Village this summer at the London Games. She is one of the only physios from this area to be going. She has a wide experience working with Cheshire RFU, Chester Jets Basketball, rowers, swimmers, tennis and athletics locally for the past 15 years.

She has been a Physiotherapist for the GB Rowing squad since 1997 working with athletes at training camps, World Championships and the Olympic Games in Athens and Beijing. As Lead Physiotherapist for the GB Start Programme Pamela works with potential GB athletes providing screening and performance enhancing rehabilitation whilst working closely with the coaching, medical and science support teams.

Pamela will continue to work with the GB Rowing Team over the summer in preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games. For the Olympic competition she will change roles to work with athletes from different sports located in the Olympic Village at the heart of the games.

‘’I am so excited at the challenges of working with a different teams of athletes, medical support personnel, as well as the experience of being in the centre of the Village. It will be so different from the role that I have had whilst working with the GB Olympic Rowing Team in Athens and Beijing. I have always wanted to have a chance to experience being part of the Olympic Village, as the Rowing competition venue is always away from the main sporting venues. Once the rowing events have finished the support team have to return home.’’

Every Olympic Games is different because of the cultural and climatic differences, but the excitement and passion is always electric. So far the build up to London is amazing and I cannot wait to be part of it. It is going to be so special for all the Team GB athletes and Games Maker volunteers being on home soil as well as the spectators whether they are in London or watching it at home on the TV!
